Building Points On Obama and the Orientation of Black Revolutionaries
Building Points On Obama and the Orientation of Black Revolutionaries
By the Central Committee of the Poor Righteous Party of the Black Nation
Many around the world have been requesting the Party’s view on Obama and the current situation in the US. The following are “Building Points” which reflect the thinking of the Party at this moment.
In the Name of the One True and Living God whose program is Peace, the Poor Righteous Party of the Black Nation salute the ancestors and martyrs of the Black national and class revolution, and extend this greeting to the ranks of the oppressed nations and most eminently, the international proletariat. May all accept our solidarity and militant salute from a struggling contingent of the Black, Brown, Red and Yellow global working class here in the belly of the beast.
1. The World Situation, International and National
The world situation is characterized by war, hunger and widespread dissatisfaction among the classes, races, nations, castes and genders. We are experiencing a sharpening of all the fundamental contradictions of the racist-capitalist system, the irreversible decline of US imperialism, spurred by a new wave of wars for territorial liberation (national liberation) and social revolutions led by working class parties.
The maintenance of the dying commodity system, genetic survival of the “white” race, geological destruction, world domination, energy independence, cultural hegemony, population control, and “controlled/managed” genocide are the preoccupations of the ruling circle.
Indeed, the ruling class understands well the needs of US capitalism and the world capitalist system within the framework of reactionary intercommunalism:
a. neocolonial pacification of the masses at home
b. strengthen the image and mobility of US white imperialism aboard and most importantly,
c. re-reform of Amerikan fascism
The PRPBN reaffirm our view that U.S. society is characterized by a pre-revolutionary situation which is rapidly developing, in the context of a general world crisis.
A few things are clear:
The struggle at the moment is to form a new mainstream, not only in the Empire as a whole, but within each and every nation.
New Afrikan people, sometimes called Black or “African American”, remain the center of politics and class struggle in the heart of the Empire.
Within this Black nation very acutely a higher form of polarization between the reactionary road and the revolutionary road is opening up
The election of a Black national in the US, contesting for the highest office of the most reactionary power in history has raised many questions internationally that demand answers.
The international community must understand the question of Obama is a sensitive question within the matrix of the Black Nation . At a time when so many great national emotions are aroused, more than ever our Party is certain that the situation can only be properly understood using the scientific tool of dialectical materialism.
2. Obama- A Contradictory Phenomenon
Contradiction, Comrade Newton taught is the ruling principal of the universe. No where is this as true as in the case of Obama, an contradictory or dialectical phenomenon.
He embodies, all in one place the very real contradictions of the current world system.
Within Obama are the contradictions both Black national and imperialist Amerika in scope. Yet even though there is an internal struggle between opposites at any given time, there is an main aspect of the contradiction that gives shape and direction to the overall development of the contraction. This aspect we call the principal aspect of the contradiction. What is the principal aspect of the contradiction in Obama?
We say it is moribund Western capitalism, US imperialism which is principal in Obama.
Obama is not so much an individual but a social force, a alliance of classes under the leadership of one. Who does Obama represents? Obama represents the ascendant faction of the liberal fascist bourgeoisie that has gained mastery in the recent accumulation process–New Money. In the secondary aspect Obama represents the maturation of the growing alliance of between the right-wing of the national bourgeoisie in alliance with the US imperialist bourgeoisie. This alliance is necessary in order to consolidate the long term growth of the Black comprador class at the service of the reactionary intercommunalists, a la Colin Powell, Condalezza Rice, 50 cent etc. The growth of the comprador bourgeoisie weakens the old civil rights national bourgeois and create a strong neo-colonial buffer between the white oppressor nation and the world majority of commodity-slaves.
3. Why the Support For Obama
Obama represents the dissatisfaction of the US rulers with the outcome of the Bush regime. The ruling class cannot rule in the old way as the masses cannot be ruled in the old way
But why the support among the oppressed masses for Obama, who does not represent their interests but that of the dying but forward thinking and sly forces of US imperialism? We say for two reason: a perceived short term self-interest and secondly, political and ideological underdevelopment.
Yet the PRPBN says the masses must not accept tokenism and that the campaigns of mass ideological struggle in the hood must be intensified.
The PRPBN view the Black struggle to vote, and the African confrontation with the electoral arena, as part of the new democratic struggle of Black people.
Within the history of the class struggle of the Black nation, the electoral/constitutional front, has been one of the central areas of the struggle for the assertion of the humanity of Afikans in Amerika.
The democratic struggle of Black people raised demands which elevated and advanced the democratic rights of all groups, including women, labor, youth, and immigrants.
Yet the democratic revolution has not been completed when it comes to the Black nation, which is actually under a form of fascism. Thus, Obama, principally representing the US imperialist project in the Black nation, has secondary bourgeois democratic aspects that are seen as progressive in the contemporary Black national context.
This is what is expressed by the popular classes support for the candidacy of Obama.
Thus it must be understood is that “African-American” support for Obama, particularly among the working class, is black nationalist at its root. It is a form of bourgeois democratic nationalism which is the expression of the people’s desire for Black political power and social change. This is what it means to the masses. But Obama is certainly not a nationalist and he actually represent a form of political and ideological national retrogression. But even though this is true, revolutionaries must not trail behind the masses and must remain firm on their ( and the peoples) strategic orientation toward independent working class political power and the primacy extra-parliamentary forms of struggle.
4. An Obama “Victory”
If Obama wins, it would be used by many as a tremendous boost to US propaganda of a society that has transcended race–obscuring the real balance of power relations in the US, which remain the homebase of world Empire, divided itself between an hostile, uncivilized white oppressor nation on the one hand and a collection of terrorized, colonized and dispersed oppressed nations (communities) on the other.
This liberal-fascist regime would also represent a key link in the acceleration of counterrevolution.
This neocolonialist would continue to serve US imperialism, spreading the lies, poison and terror of the US around the world.
The PRPBN believes that the election of a “Black” president will not alter the fundamental condition of the slavery of the Black Nation, but we feel that it will open up an unprecedented domestic political space also contributing to the intensification of very real US national-racial contradictions, concentrated in the struggle of the black proletariat and the US capitalist ruling class.
The fundamental racist and fascist core of the US will remain with its growing fascist repressive apparatus and extra-state Neo-nazis and skin head, right wing militia etc forces. We expect this trend of state and non-state reaction to increase.
Revolutionaries should take the position of “Elect the Hood”. This means a firm projection of independent black proletarian revolutionary political power through traditional and non traditional forms.
During this same period our Party has expanded its basic organization, as well as its youth fronts and mass fronts.
5. On Elections and Voting
Without counting out any role to be played by the bourgeois ballot, the illusion of the idea or strategy of gradual social-democratic change in the US through periodic elections leading to the establishment of socialism must be cast away.
The PRPBN firmly believes that only new democratic and socialist revolution led by a working class led front of popular classes can free the masses of Black, Brown, Red and Yellow people in North Amerika.
Only a forceful overthrow of the existing polity and its replacement with the hegemony of a new society can the possibility of real change open up .
As far as elections, the PRPBN uphold the fundamental rights of sovereign masses to cast a vote pertaining to important issues affecting his/her life. The PRPBN defend this fundamental right.
However, this fundamental right has yet to be fully extended to the vast majority of the world’s population.
Democracy, a form of reactionary class society having its origin in the dissolution of feudalism and the rise of European capitalism , has been an immense illusion under capitalism in general.
Elections under capitalism in general and Amerika in particular is a tool of mass manipulation, pacification and repression. It primary purpose being to distort the functioning of power and legitimize the systematic exploitation of the people.
Yet revolutionaries do not reject any form of struggle.
Under certain conditions, voting or participation in the bourgeois electoral process can be used as a tactical tool to educate the people about the limits of the bourgeois system and achieve certain reforms that can strengthen the peoples position in the class struggle.
Strategically the PRPBN applies the tactic of revolutionary boycott of the imperialist nation elections and promotion of active mass participation in the Black national election process.
Our participation in Black National Electoral process has two components 1.) fielding independent pro-working class candidates in the National revolutionary democratic elections of the Provisional Government of the Republic of New Afrika and other independent black national structures and 2. critical support, engagement with black politicians which support the revolution and self determination of the Black nation.
All of this is to orient the struggle to the revolutionary movement of the Black proletariat.
6. Tactical Line of the PRPBN in this Period
The PRPBN, openly a revolutionary organization guided by the science of Polymathematics, takes up the responsibility as a mainstream Black political force, intending to organize and engage all classes of the Black nation.
To defeat the main enemy, which is US imperialism in alliance with the Black comprador, it is necessary to aggressively strengthen the revolutionary Black United Front of all revolutionary and patriotic classes of the Back Nation.
Thus as a responsible Black National force we have been dialoguing and struggling with all forces so as to develop a common minimum program of a Black United Front.
In 2008 the PRPBN fielded candidates in the RNA elections as well as offered critical support to Black politicians that advanced a Black national agenda such as Cynthia Mckinney.
At a time of a counterrevolutionary integrationist offensive in the electoral realm(which has been successful in attracting a portion of the oppressed masses) it is necessary to offer critical support to Cynthia Mckinney, who raises a national program, to educate the masses about the issues which are not being raised by any other candidate. Yet while we support and defend the raising of these issues in the electoral arena we also show how the system cannot deliver fundamental change, and hence the need for revolution, national independence and socialism.
Our Party’s decision to critically support the candidacy of Cynthia Mckinney is due to no love for the bourgeois parliamentary system, but the concrete condition of the domestic class struggle in the Black nation and the need to unite the masses while isolating the main enemy of the people, which is the integrationist US imperialist project represented by Obama.
In this way we build links between all forms of the struggle, so as to try to win over the nationalist section of the Black middle class to the revolutionary position led by the Black working class. The Party will show, mainly through the building of revolutionary intercommunalism, that it is only the black working class which advances a program of national and global salvation.
7. Some Criticism of Wrong Views
The PRPBN is critical of the forces that support Obama as a revolutionary force or as one in the interest of the people.
We disagree with those forces who think that to be anti-Obama is to somehow be anti-Black.
We disagree we our friends whose feel like the candidacy of Cynthia Mckinney is against the Black United Front. We feel to argue for a monopoly of black support for Obama at the expense of the support of Cynthia Mckinney, one who raises Black national issues, is to objectively strengthen the US imperialist project in the Black nation, while at the same time greatly reducing the trajectory of viable options to Empire, ideologically and politically.
The PRPBN, as a revolutionary Party, will continue to organize the oppressed masses for the New Power (Instruments of Revolution) under the leadership of the Black working class. We will continue to serve and prepare the people for coming of the righteous revolutionary people’s war that will finish off the enemy once and for all.
Elect the Hood!
Build the revolutionary Black United Front of All Classes of the Black Nation!
All Power to the People!
